1. Preparation: The cold heading machine needs to load the metal material to be processed to the feeding mechanism, usually in the form of wire or steel rod.
2. Feeding: The feeding mechanism feeds the metal material into the feeding position of the cold heading machine according to a predetermined length and speed. The feeding mechanism is usually composed of feeding rollers and clamping devices to ensure stable feeding of materials.
3. Extrusion: The extrusion part of the cold heading machine contains one or more extrusion mechanisms with cold extrusion dies. The metal material is subjected to axial force by the extrusion action of the extrusion mechanism, thereby changing the cross-sectional shape.
4. Cooling: During the cold extrusion process, the temperature will increase due to the frictional heat and plastic deformation of the material caused by the extrusion. Therefore, it is necessary to cool the material after extrusion to prevent the material from deforming or cracking.
5. Shearing: In the shearing part of the cold heading machine, the metal material is cut by the shearing mechanism to obtain the required length.
6. Discharge of finished products: The processed finished products are discharged from the discharge end of the cold heading machine through the discharge device.
In the whole cold extrusion process, the mechanical force of the cold heading machine and the design of the die play a key role. The mechanical force can be provided by a mechanical drive system, and the mold is designed and manufactured in the required shape and size. The advantages of the cold extrusion process include high precision, high efficiency, retention of raw material fiber flow linearity and optimization of the physical properties of the material.
